We’re moving into March, and whether you’re still bundled up and feeling cozy or you’re ready to get a jump on spring, there’s an event for you in Westmoreland County this weekend. Here are some ideas:

Latrobe Soup Mania

Cold weather calls for soup, and this weekend, Latrobe will be putting its best cozy cuisine on display with the Soup Mania event. Participating businesses will offer samples of their soups to wristband holders.

A dozen establishments will house pots of delicious soups, including 512 Coffee and Ice Cream, Scotty G’s and Aroma Italiano. After tasting, you can purchase to-go containers of your favorites. Don’t forget to browse the merchants for their other offerings.

Check-in and same-day registration will be held between 9:30 a.m. and noon Saturday, and the tasting tour runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. To get tickets in advance, visit primalacomunita.org or call 724-953-7935. Proceeds benefit Prima La Comunita and future events in Latrobe.

ABBA tribute

Swedish group ABBA remains one of the most significant forces in pop music, and dozens of their hits retain huge fanbases. Tribute act Mamma Mania will bring their infectious songs and dynamic presence to The Lamp Theatre this Friday and Saturday.

From “Mamma Mia!” to “Dancing Queen” and “Fernando,” these hits are designed to get the audience singing along. Don’t forget your sequins and dancing shoes for this throwback party.

Shows will be held at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at The Lamp Theatre, 222 Main St., Irwin. Tickets are $35. Get yours at lamptheatre.org.

‘The Lyons’ at The Theatre Factory

This weekend, The Theatre Factory mounts its production of the 2012 Broadway play “The Lyons” by playwright Nicky Silver. The play revolves around the hospital room of a dying father and the biting interactions between family members as they visit him. It is full of dark humor, emotional moments and exposed secrets.

Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Trafford Performing Arts Center, 235 Cavitt Ave., Trafford. Performances will also continue next weekend. The show is about two hours long, and tickets are $20 to $25. Learn more at thetheatrefactory.org.

Retro Rodeo

This is your chance to hear old-school country hits performed live. Retro Rodeo is an experience unlike any other, performing at Live Casino Pittsburgh this Friday night.

These musicians pack the dance floor with a fresh take on classic songs. Sing along to favorites from legends including Shania Twain, Alan Jackson and Garth Brooks, from line-dancing staples to emotional ballads.

The 21-and-over event will be held at PBR Pittsburgh in Live Casino, 5260 Route 30, Hempfield, at 8 p.m. Friday. Doors open at 7 p.m. Learn more at livech.com/Pittsburgh.

For Ligonier Winter Garrison

We can all agree it’s been a long winter, but we’ve had it easy in comparison to how 18th-century soldiers lived through the colder months. Head to the Lower Fort at Fort Ligonier to see how the military men of the time survived the season. Outside, activities and demonstrations will be held; inside, gallery talks and film showings will complement the program.

The program will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Fort Ligonier, 200 S. Market St., Ligonier. Learn more at fortligonier.org.
