Here are some fun things to do on this wintry weekend in Westmoreland.
YMCA Family Fun Night
If you’re sick and tired of the cold, take a little tropical trip at the Greensburg YMCA’s Winter Luau Party.
The Family Fun Night is free for members, $5 for nonmembers or $15 for the whole family. There will be snacks, crafts, a “warm pool” and games of indoor “beach” volleyball. Get into the spirit of summer, even if there’s snow outside.
The party will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. The Greensburg YMCA is located at 101 S. Maple Ave., Greensburg. Learn more at the Facebook page, facebook.com/gbgymca.
‘Mamma Mia’ sing-along
Here we go again. Head to the Lamp Theatre in Irwin for a movie night fundraiser, including the 2008 ABBA jukebox musical film “Mamma Mia!” on the big screen.
On Friday night, VIPs will be welcomed at 6:30 p.m., general admission entry will begin at 7 and the movie will begin at 7:45. Live performers will do their thing during the film, but feel free to sing along as well.
The event will also include themed cocktails, photo opportunities and raffles. General admission tickets are $22 and VIP tickets are $32. Learn more at lamptheatre.org, and visit the theater at 222 Main St., Irwin.
‘In Your Wildest Dreams’ exhibit opening
The Greensburg Art Center will be opening its newest exhibit this weekend. “In Your Wildest Dreams” is a collection of art center members’ current works in a wide variety of mediums.
The exhibition will be open from Sunday through March 7, and there will be an opening reception Sunday for the general public. Admission and parking are free, and light refreshments will be provided for attendees.
The Greensburg Art Center is at 230 Todd School Road, Hempfield. The opening will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. See more at greensburgarcenter.org.
Get The Led Out
Fans of Led Zeppelin will get two opportunities to see Get The Led Out, a live and faithful Led Zeppelin tribute act, this weekend.
On Friday and Saturday night, enjoy universally known classics and deep cuts from Zeppelin’s discography with this electrifying band. They focus on the early years, but also perform an acoustic set that includes favorites such as “Tangerine” and “Hey Hey What Can I Do.”
