Robert Higareda, a sculptor with DiMartino Ice, works on a lighthouse sculpture during the Ligonier Ice Fest in Ligonier Borough in 2024.

With below-freezing temperatures keeping everyone inside this past week, you might be feeling a bit of cabin fever going into the weekend. Need to get out? There’s plenty to do this weekend.

Ligonier Ice Fest

It’s time to celebrate the cool things about the cold with the Ligonier Ice Fest. Throughout downtown Ligonier, more than 60 ice sculptures by DiMartino Ice Co. of Jeannette will dazzle attendees, and much more fun awaits.

On Saturday at the Town Hall, Ligonier Volunteer Hose Company 1 will hold a spaghetti dinner from 11 a.m. until they’re sold out, and a concert from Big Fat Jazz will begin at 2 p.m.

There will be live ice sculpting starting at 1 p.m. Friday and 10:30 a.m. Saturday, horse-drawn carriage rides provided by Misty Haven Carriage on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m., and delicious popcorn available from Hanson’s Original Kettle Korn.

Plus, don’t miss out on the sales and fun at various merchants and restaurants around downtown Ligonier. Learn more about the full schedule of events at ligonier.com.

Vintage ball

Feel like going back in time? Head to the circus- inspired Vintage Ball at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art this Saturday night in your best 1920s threads for a night of fun.

The evening will include roaming magicians, a swing-inspired dance party, carnival games and delicious circus-inspired eats by Sun Dawg Cafe. Each ticket comes with one free drink at the cash bar.

Tickets are $50 for museum members, $60 for nonmembers. The event will take place 6 to 9 p.m. at 221 N. Main St., Greensburg. This shindig is for ages 21+. See more information and register in advance at thewestmoreland.org.

History speaks

As part of its History Speaks series, Bushy Run Battlefield will be hosting a talk Saturday about “The Forgotten Col. Joshua Fry.”

The talk will be given by historian and writer Frank Kurtik. He will explore the life of this much-forgotten historical military figure whose death in 1754 gave rise to a young upstart named George Washington and changed the course of American history.

The talk will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at 1253 Bushy Run Road, Jeannette. Admission is $15; $10 for members of the Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society. Learn more about the event and get tickets at bushyrunbattlefield.com.

’90s Night Dance Party

Looking for a different era of throwback jams? Head to Rolling Fields Golf Club on Saturday night to get down with all your favorite tunes from the last decade of the 20th century.

This 21+ event will include themed cocktails for purchase and an all-night DJ spinning the best songs from back in the day. The cover is $5. And don’t forget to pull out all of your ’90s finery from the back of the closet to dress on-theme.

The party will start at 7 p.m. Saturday at Rolling Fields Golf Club, 4138 Hankey Church Road, Murrysville. See more at their Facebook page, facebook.com/rollingfieldsgolfcourse.

Antique show and sale

To complete a weekend of time travel, head to the Greensburg Country Club on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the Southwestern Pennsylvania Council for the Arts’ Antique Show and Sale.

Find a variety of antique goods from hundreds of sellers, from rugs to furniture to jewelry to quilts. You can even bring in your own antique items to have them appraised.

The event will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Greensburg Country Club, 309 Pleasant Valley Road, Hempfield. A three-day pass is $10. To learn more, visit spcarts.org.
