The Fulton House, a restored former inn dating from 1817, is the headquarters of the Derry Area Historical Society.

Has this week felt extra long? Spend your Friday daydreaming about some of the ways you can savor your weekend with these five things happening throughout Westmoreland:

Derry celebrates 250th

Derry Township is 250 years old this year, and that’s certainly a cause for celebration. This Saturday, come out for a big party to enjoy the community’s legacy.

A parade will begin at 2 p.m. and proceed from the Derry Municipal Building, 5321 State Route 982, to the Bradenville Playground on 11th Street. That’s where the rest of the festival will take place immediately following the arrival of the parade.

The celebration will include food, games, live entertainment and more. Make sure you stick around for the fireworks, which will be held at 10 p.m. To learn more, see the Derry Area Historical Society’s Facebook page.

Westmoreland Museum maze

Experience this free and fun Saturday night at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art. The event centers around a new and interactive art maze at the museum.

In addition to the art maze, see escape artist Michael Griffin, who has appeared on several TV shows. There will be food and drinks available for purchase, and a maze-themed art activity.

The Westmoreland is located at 221 N. Main St., Greensburg. The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Registration is recommended at thewestmoreland.org.

SummerSounds

Get ready for an infectious night of grooving with the six-piece band Copilot at this week’s free SummerSounds concert. Playing at St. Clair Park in Greensburg on Friday night, the band is a little retro, a little pop, a little Americana, a little folk and a lot of summery fun for everyone.

Preshow music by Grunge Creek will kick off at 6:15 p.m., and the main event will go from 7 to 9:15 p.m. Make sure to check out the free shuttle to get you to the show at 135 N. Maple Ave. Learn all about the series at summersounds.com.

‘A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder’

Closing their 2024-25 season, the Theatre Factory will open its production of the Tony Award-winning musical “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” on Friday. The comedy, based on a 1907 novel, opened on Broadway in 2013 and enjoyed a successful run. This production is directed by Olivia Hartle.

Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Trafford Performing Arts Center, 235 Cavitt Ave., Trafford. Performances will continue next weekend. Tickets are $20 at thetheatrefactory.org.

‘Jingle in July’

It may be hot outside, but July is still a perfect time to get into the Christmas spirit with this fundraiser at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in Ligonier.

The party will include Christmas tunes played by RML Jazz, delicious food and holiday treats, themed cocktails, raffles, silent auctions and free admission to SAMA’s exhibit. Dress in your best casual summer festive wear to get into the spirit of the season.

The event will be held Saturday starting at 5 p.m. at Boucher Lane, Ligonier Township. Tickets are $85. Get yours at sama-art.org.
