Oakmont and golf’s U.S. Open aren’t the only enticing events happening this weekend. Westmoreland and most certainly Greensburg have a busy weekend ahead.

Greensburg Craft Beer Week

There’s no better time than a balmy summer night to kick back with your favorite brew. With Greensburg Craft Beer Week, you can find a lot of new favorites.

The weeklong festivities will run from Friday through June 21, but Saturday will be the Craft Beer Festival in St. Clair Park in Greensburg. The festival will feature more than 20 breweries, including El Diablo Brewing, Stone Bridge Brewing, All Saints Brewing and many more. There will also be other alcoholic beverages, food vendors, local goods vendors and live music.

Get tickets for the festival, whether VIP for $70, early entry for $60, general admission for $45 or designated driver for $10. Early entry and VIP enter the festival at 3 p.m., and general admission enters at 4 p.m. Learn more and buy tickets at greensburgcraftbeerweek.com.

SummerSounds

Friday night continues the SummerSounds free concert series with a dynamic six-piece band fronted by Sudanese-American musician Ahmed Gallab. Sinkane so seamlessly blends genres that their music will get everyone moving at the park.

A vibrant combination of pop, funk, soul, jazz and more will be found at St. Clair Park. The preshow music will be provided by Cinders & Saints, and don’t forget to check out the free shuttle from Lynch Field and food vendors at the event. Pre-show music will start at 6:15 p.m. Learn more about the musicians at summersounds.com.

Father’s Day Fishing Derby

Forgot to get Dad a gift? How about taking him fishing this Father’s Day instead of buying a last-minute tie or mug? Twin Lakes Park has you covered with a free fishing derby this Sunday.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at noon if you want to be eligible for a prize. Door prizes will be raffled off for registered participants, and the end of the day will bring prizes for longest trout, longest carp and longest other fish of legal size.

Registration will be held at the boathouse on the lower lake. The event will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. For the full details, visit westmorelandcountypa.gov.

Greensburg Summer in the City

Downtown Greensburg will be alive with fun summer activities this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event will bring the community together with a variety of activities and performances for all ages.

The day kicks off with a pet parade in downtown Greensburg, and at noon, folks will gather at the Moore/Becker Parking Lot on South Pennsylvania Avenue for a real spectacle: an attempt at breaking the world record for the most people bowing chewing gum bubbles at once.

In addition, there will be live musical performances, games, fire truck demos, live animals from Living Treasures and delicious food vendors. The event will last from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in Downtown Greensburg. See the full slate of events at shopgreensburgpa.com.

Lincoln Highway Experience 30th on 30

It’s been 30 years of the Lincoln Highway Experience preserving the corridor of historic Route 30, and they’re going to celebrate Sunday.

The museum will offer discounted entry for adults and free entry for kids 18 and under. There will also be tasty eats on offer, including barbecue, walking tacos, hot dogs, ice cream and s’mores provided by Boy Scout Troop No. 372.

There will be live music by the Kyle Greene Trio to liven up the highway experience even more. Head over to 3435 State Route 30 E, Latrobe, from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday to get in on the action. Learn more at lhhc.org.
