The first day of summer is Friday, and what better time is there to catch some brightly colored rainbows? Here are a few chances to get out this weekend.

Pride Movie Night

Kick off a fun-filled Pride weekend with a Pride Movie Night at the Greensburg Garden and Civic Center. Followers voted, and the movie will be the film adaptation of 1996 generation-defining musical “Rent.” The film follows a group of friends in New York City in the late 1980s, dealing with life, love, the HIV/AIDS crisis and, well, paying the rent.

Admission to this movie night is free. Pride-friendly vendors and concessions will be on site. The event will begins at 7 p.m. Friday at the Greensburg Civic and Garden Center, 951 Old Salem Road, Greensburg. Learn more at westmorelandculturaltrust.org.

Pride Prom

The Westmoreland Museum of American Art will once again host its Pride Prom this Saturday. The event has become a much-anticipated tradition of Pride Month in Greensburg.

From 6 to 9 p.m., enjoy the showy Prom-enade, a performance by Westmoreland County native pop star Bryce Bowyn and explore the Westmoreland’s new Art Maze. Plus, fuel your dancing with food and drink options for purchase on site.

Pride Prom is presented in partnership with PFLAG Greensburg and Westmoreland LGBTQ Interfaith Network. It will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art, 221 N. Main St., Greensburg. Prom attire is encouraged but not required. The event is free, but get your tickets at thewestmoreland.org.

Burn the Jukebox

Fiery Pennsylvania-based alt rock band Burn the Jukebox will play a show at the Lamp Theatre in Irwin this Saturday. The group has gone viral on social media, with hundreds of millions of views on different platforms. Now you have the chance to see them in person.

Now out on the road, they’ll soon be recording their first-ever studio album. The show will take place at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Lamp Theatre, 222 Main St., Irwin. Tickets are $25. Make sure to get yours before they’re gone at lamptheatre.org.

Fort Ligonier Summer Solstice Sunset Tour

Friday is the longest day of daylight this year, so take the extra brightness to tour Fort Ligonier, a historical fort right in our own backyard. The event will include an exclusive tour of the grounds, a wine and cheese reception and a lantern-lit walk through the grounds as the sun sets over the lovely scenery.

While this is a fancier event, remember to wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes. Tickets are $45 for nonmembers and $35 for Fort Ligonier Association members. The tour will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at 200 S. Market St., Ligonier. Get tickets and info at fortligonier.org.

SummerSounds

Get ready to rock out this long Friday night with The Michael Weber Show at free summer concert series SummerSounds. Weber is a student of rock since a young age and will burn up the stage with incendiary solos and high-energy performances. The singer writes his own songs, but takes influences from rock of the past to lend some nostalgia to his original music.

Preshow music by Jim OBrien will start at 6:15 p.m. Friday at St. Clair Park, 135 N. Maple Ave., Greensburg. Food options and a free shuttle from Lynch Field will be available. Learn more at summersounds.com.
