Here are 5 things to do in Westmoreland this weekend: March 28-30
Indoors and outdoors, music and art, fun and fresh air and even more are planned for this weekend in Westmoreland County. What’s on your agenda? Here are some events to consider.
March for Parks
As the weather warms, the beautiful Westmoreland County parks will become more busy, with plenty to see and do. Here at the beginning of the season, participate in the March for Parks fundraiser to help fund new park and trail programs.
The event will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Twin Lakes Park Nature Center, 111 Nature Center Lane, east of Greensburg. Registering before Saturday will get you a T-shirt for a $30 donation, and day of the event will be $40 ($15 for children and pets with advance registration, $20 day of the event, for a swag bag or treat). There will be an optional walk around Twin Lakes, live entertainment, raffles, a pig roast lunch and more.

Tom Petty tribute
Were you heartbroken when Tom Petty passed away? With The Breakers, you can feel like you’re seeing the late, great singer-songwriter live with two shows this weekend at The Lamp Theatre.
Rock out to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers hits, such as “American Girl” “Mary Jane’s Last Dance” and “Refugee” from this note-perfect tribute. The Breakers aim to capture the emotion of Petty’s many classic hit songs.
Tickets are $38 for each of the two shows, which will be held Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Lamp Theatre, 222 Main St., Irwin. Visit lamptheatre.org to learn more.
Art in Bloom free day
All weekend, The Westmoreland Museum of American Art is bringing back its Art in Bloom tradition. This show pairs local floral artists with different works in the museum’s collection and asks them to design arrangements inspired by the art.
On Sunday, admission to the exhibit will be free, and some of the floral designers will be on hand to discuss the blooming inspiration behind their creations. Sunday is the last day of Art in Bloom, and the last chance for museum visitors to vote on their favorite arrangement for the People’s Choice Award.
The museum is located at 221 N. Main St., Greensburg. Advance registration is recommended at thewestmoreland.org.
‘You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown’
Watch Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the whole Peanuts gang in this well-loved musical. The Theatre Factory will present “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” this weekend and next.
The 1967 musical — and its 1999 revival — were acclaimed and loved by audiences of all ages. Through catchy tunes and familiar scenes, get to know the world of memorable characters including Sally, Schroeder, Lucy, Linus and others.
Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Trafford Performing Arts Center, 235 Cavitt Ave. Tickets are $20. Learn more at thetheatrefactory.org.
Spring Vintage Market
The Downtown Greensburg Project and the Greensburg Night Market will hold this fun Saturday event to help you find new clothing, housewares and more to refresh for the spring season — and enjoy some tasty treats.
Entry to the market is $5 online or in person. The market will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hempfield Athletic Complex, 220 Forbes Trail Road. Children under age 18 and students with a college ID get in for free. Find out more at greensburgnightmarket.com.
