Residents spend time along with friends and families in Diamond Square during the 2023 Light-up Ligonier event.

Don’t let the post-Thanksgiving lull last all weekend! It’s time to get fully into the Christmas swing of things with a whole treasure trove of events this weekend. Here are a few.

Light Up Ligonier

Even if you aren’t putting up your Christmas tree and lights this weekend, the town of Ligonier is getting into the dazzling holiday spirit with their Light Up Night on the Diamond in Downtown.

This festive event will include a visit from Santa, horse-drawn carriage rides and a countdown to light up the decorations on the Diamond. Make sure to visit local businesses for dinner, drinks and a little holiday shopping while you’re in town.

Light Up Ligonier will be held 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Diamond in Ligonier. Learn more at business.ligonier.com.

Compass Inn Museum by Candlelight: Celebrating the Yuletide

The Compass Inn Museum in Laughlintown will be softly lit by candlelight for this event where guests can explore decorations and traditions from the past. Enjoy the wreaths, pine boughs and many candles that will adorn the inn for the season.

Also, docents will tell guests about different traditions celebrated in this time of year throughout historic periods. This event will be a warm, inviting, educational and enjoyable experience for the whole family.

The event will be held Saturday and Sunday night 4 to 8 p.m., and timed tickets should be purchased ahead of time. Get yours at compassinn.org.

Six Gun Sally at the Lamp Theatre

Southern and classic rock fans won’t want to miss Six Gun Sally at the Lamp Theatre. They’ll be joined by special guests, including East Coast Turnaround, as well as musicians Greg T. Walker (of the band Blackfoot and others) and Carmine Appice (of Vanilla Fudge and other groups).

This show will be an exciting and high-octane experience of the music of the ’70s with great musicians who have plenty of experience playing together. They’ll cover huge hits from bands such as Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Fleetwood Mac, along with tuneful originals thrown into the mix.

The show will be held at the Lamp Theatre, 222 Main St., Irwin on Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $26. Get yours at lamptheatre.org.

Winter Nights at the Westmoreland

On Fridays during the holiday season, The Westmoreland Museum of American Art will be open late to show off its dazzling light displays and provide fun events for patrons.

See the museum inside and out 5 to 8 p.m. Friday all dressed up in its holiday best. It’s also a chance to see Winter Tales, the new immersive installation. This free event also includes a paper gingerbread house art activity and live music from The Evergreens.

There will be different activities and entertainment each week, so be sure to put Fridays on your calendar for the remainder of the season. Winter Night will be held on the museum grounds at 221 N. Main St., Greensburg. Learn more at thewestmoreland.org.
