Things are jumping in Westmoreland County this weekend, from museums to theaters to battlefields and everywhere in between. Here’s just a few ideas of what to do.

Art on Tap: Rocktober Fest

The Westmoreland Museum of American Art is combining several of the best things for this month’s 21+ Art on Tap event. Rocktober Fest will include a roving barbershop quartet, a guitar-and-vocal duet and a rock concert at the end of the evening by The Damaged Pies.

It will also include the premiere of a short film music video that’s a collaboration between a dozen local artists. Be among the first to see what the creatives in the area are producing. Also enjoy themed cocktails and light bites.

The event is from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $12 for members and $15 for nonmembers. Get yours at thewestmoreland.org.

Fort Ligonier Days

All weekend long, this regional fall festival will thrill the whole family. This experience annually commemorates a key 1758 battle in the French and Indian War with battle reenactments, a juried craft show, as much delicious food as you can eat, live entertainment and a parade.

Located on the Diamond and throughout the historic town of Ligonier amid fall colors, the festival is a weekend of fun for all. The parade will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday and a 5k walk/run will be held on Sunday morning.

‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’ 50th anniversary

Audiences have been doing the Time Warp for 50 years now, and the Westmoreland Cultural Trust will be celebrating with a special showing and event on Friday at The Palace Theatre.

The showing will also feature a memorabilia display, a live cast and the original Columbia, Nell Campbell, making an appearance. Ticket purchasers will also receive a prop bag for the screening. Whether you’ve never experienced it before or have seen it 50 times, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” will delight audiences.

The event will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at The Palace Theatre, 21 W. Otterman St., Greensburg. Tickets range from $35 to $105. Get yours at westmorelandculturaltrust.org.

Van Halen tribute

Few acts today can duplicate the energy and musical prowess of Van Halen in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Tribute band Completely Unchained does their best to pay homage to those great musicians and tunes with their play on some of the best classic rock tunes out there.

Playing the Lamp Theatre in Irwin on Friday night, the four-piece band will bring to life those immortal riffs, drum fills and howling vocals that made massive hits and lasting favorites. With attitude, musicianship and personality, these rockers look like the real deal.

Completely Unchained will play starting at 8 p.m. on Friday night at the Lamp Theatre, 222 Main St., Irwin. Tickets are $33. Get yours at lamptheatre.org.

Spooky Couples Paint Date at Green Beacon Gallery

Whether it’s a first date or a rare afternoon out away from the kids, this is a great chance to get out with someone special, bring a bottle of wine and create a spooky painting together.

Green Beacon Gallery will be hosting this event on Saturday with instructor Phil Harrold. Each couple will work together to make a painting of skeletons in love that will make both a great memory and a great conversation piece. Feel free to bring libations to enhance the fun.

Tickets for each couple are $40. Advance registration is recommended in case space fills up. The event will take place from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Green Beacon Gallery, 235 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg. Learn more and register at greenbeacongallery.com.
