This pre-Halloween weekend is packed with scary good activities for all ages throughout Westmoreland. Don your costume and get ready to haunt the town with these events.

Halloween tales tours

The Compass Inn Museum in Laughlintown will host a fascinating and spine-tingling event with real ghostly tales from the Ligonier Valley. As night falls, head to the museum for the spooky atmosphere and costumed docents who will whisper their creepy tales for all ages.

The stories are pulled from local lore and will entertain both horror lovers and history buffs. Visitors will enjoy a candlelit tour of the museum with stops in each room for a story.

The tours have timed tickets, and each tour will take about an hour and a half. Tours will be offered Friday through Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Compass Inn Museum, 1386 Route 30 East, Laughlintown. Get your tickets at compassinn.org.

Pumpkin and Spice Festival

There’s more to the season than scary stories. Enjoy the flavors and sights of autumn with the Pumpkin and Spice Festival and support local businesses in Ligonier on Sunday.

Participating vendors will offer fall-flavored food and drink specials for your judgment. Get tickets, check in at the Ligonier Town Hall between 10:30 a.m. and noon Sunday, and then enjoy the walking tour from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. around businesses in the area. You’ll get all of the materials you need at the Town Hall. Don’t forget to offer your votes for Best Drink and other categories.

‘Dracula: The Musical’

Is there a more fascinating horror movie monster than the vampire Dracula? He’s shown up in books, movies, TV shows and now onstage with “Dracula: The Musical,” performed this weekend at the Geyer Performing Arts Center in Scottdale.

The funny, spooky and catchy musical will keep things light, tuneful and fun with just piano accompaniment and a simple set, but audiences will be enthralled the whole time.

Performances will be held Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Geyer Performing Arts Center, 111 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale. Get tickets at geyerpac.ludus.com.

Halloween parade and party

It’s no fun for kids to only get to wear their costumes once, for trick-or-treating on Halloween. So why not take them to Downtown Greensburg this Saturday to literally parade around in their Halloween outfits?

Line-up for the Greensburg Halloween parade will begin at 11:30 a.m. by the Courthouse Annex, and make its way down to the City Hall along South Pennsylvania Avenue. In the City Hall parking lot will await the party, which will last until 2 p.m. and include games, activities, face painting and more.

This Saturday event is perfect for kids under 12 and pets, too. The event is free.

Led Zeppelin tribute

Kashmir is an experienced and charismatic Led Zeppelin tribute band, and who doesn’t love to hear the tunes of Zep played live? It’s all about balance with Kashmir; you’ll hear both those classic hits and the deep cuts that will get faithful fans on their feet and cheering.

Specifically, the band will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the album “Physical Graffiti,” which includes songs “In the Light,” “Houses of the Holy,” “The Rover” and the band’s namesake track. With stage presence, enthusiastic musicianship and surprising resemblance to the original band, Kashmir is ready to rock.
