Halloween is upon us, and plenty of spooky happenings will be popping up in the next few days. As we enter November, Westmoreland County is jumping with other weekend happenings, too. Here are just a few:
‘Rocky Horror’ events
If you’re a fan of “Rocky Horror,” you’ve got multiple opportunities to check out the cult classic this weekend.
Westmoreland Performing Arts will be presenting the stage show, “The Rocky Horror Show,” at the Greensburg Garden and Civic Center, 951 Old Salem Road. Don’t forget your costumes, props and energy for this 50th anniversary show with new cast members and old favorites. Performances will be held Friday and Saturday at 8 and 11:59 p.m. Get tickets at discoverwpa.com.
At 222 Main St. in Irwin, the Lamp Theatre and Split Stage Productions will also shock the story to life with “The Rocky Horror Show,” with prop bags available for $10. The cast will take the stage at 10 p.m. Friday for the Halloween night performance, and at 8 and 11:50 p.m. on Saturday. Get tickets at lamptheatre.org.
Monster Bash at Live Casino

Make sure to dress in your Halloween best to participate in the costume contest, with a scary good grand prize of $2,000.
The party is open to those 21 and older and will be held in Sports & Social Steel City and PBR Pittsburgh at the casino, 5260 Route 30, Hempfield. It starts at 9 p.m. Friday and wraps up at 2 a.m. Saturday. Tickets are $20 cash at the door. Learn more at livech.com/Pittsburgh.
‘War of the Worlds’ Radio Play
In 1938, Orson Welles broadcast a radio play based on the science fiction alien invasion novel, “War of the Worlds.” It was so realistic that some listeners believed it was real. Now, that radio play will be brought to life at the Geyer Performing Arts Center in Scottdale. Just don’t panic!
The performance will be fully immersive, with a live cast, vintage commercials and side effects. Take yourself back to 1938 with this remake of the full original drama. Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Geyer Performing Arts Center, 111 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale.
