The official end to summer — the September equinox — is here. With warm weather forecast for this weekend, there’s time to enjoy a few more days of fun and sun before chilly nights and falling leaves arrive.

Bachman-Turner Overdrive

The classic rock band Bachman-Turner Overdrive will bring its music to the Palace Theatre on Sunday. Hits such as “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet” and “Takin’ Care of Business” still have a lasting impact with plenty of play on classic rock radio stations.

The show will be held at the theater, 21 W. Otterman St., Greensburg. Music will start at 7 p.m. . Tickets range from $78 to $170. Get all the info and tickets at thepalacetheatre.org.

Bushy Run car cruise

Experience the history and beauty of Bushy Run Battlefield — and scope out some cool cars. The historic site’s annual Car Cruise will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Whether you have a vehicle to show off or you love viewing unique cars and trucks, this would be a great time to head over to the battlefield’s parking lot. Along with the classic and modified cars and trucks, spectators can enjoy entertainment, food and drink, a silent auction and a 50-50 raffle. The event is free, but proceeds from the raffle and auctions go to the battlefield.

As an extra treat, admission to the battlefield’s museum is free for the day. Find the battlefield at 1253 Bushy Run Road, Penn Township. Learn more at bushyrunbattlefield.com.

Greensburg VFD open house

How well do you know your local volunteer fire department? Saturday, residents will get a chance to visit and learn about the Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department Hose Company No. 1.

The open house will allow attendees to learn about the company’s equipment. They’ll also have free food and activities, and members will be on hand to answer fire safety questions and provide information to help prevent fires.

They’ll also be happy to tell you more about becoming a volunteer firefighter.

Visit 6 McLaughlin Drive, Greensburg, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to get in on the open house. See more about Hose Company No. 1 at gbgfire.com/company-1.

Irwin Gig on Main

Head over to Irwin on Saturday to see The Clarks at the Gig on Main. This annual street festival will bring plenty of excitement to the Irwin business district.

In addition to one of the local area’s most popular bands, the festival will have food trucks, fun and more. Live performers will also include The Mazeroskis and Justin Sellers.

The event is free, all ages and will take place from 5 to 11 p.m. on Main Street in Irwin. No coolers or outside alcoholic beverages are permitted. To learn more, visit downtownirwin.com.

Summer concert series

We’ve come to the finale of the free Twin Lakes Park summer concert series. Saturday’s lineup is The Lyin’ Hearts playing at 6:30 p.m., Pendulum – A CCR Tribute coming on at 8 p.m. and a special performance by Flow N’at.

The Poulich Pit BBQ food truck will be there to fuel all of your dancing with delicious food. Bring your dogs and lawn chairs to enjoy the show. The concert will be held at the Brian T. Rusnock Amphitheater, in the Peach Plaza Expansion Area across from 1087 Georges Station Road in Unity.
