A Herminie man is back in jail after police said he broke into a Mt. Pleasant Borough home Sunday evening and threatened a woman with a knife.

Police were called to a home on the first block of Frick Avenue around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday after a man called 911 and said another man had threatened his mother with a knife. The caller said he followed the man down the street after he left, according to court records.

A neighbor directed police to nearby Warden Street, where they saw two males walking. One man stopped and told police the man who was with him was the one who had a knife, according to a sworn affidavit.

Instead of speaking with police, the suspect ran, ignoring orders to stop. He successfully evaded a K-9 officer until he fled to a fenced-in area with no exit. The man, identified as Daniel S. Sebulsky, 41, was taken into custody.

A witness told police he’d spoken with Sebulsky after the incident, and Sebulsky told him he’d broken into the woman’s house, and that someone was now following him, according to court records.

Sebulsky told police a different account — he said the woman had invited him over, that he’d fallen asleep on the couch and she had woken him up later, asking him to leave.

When police asked why Sebulsky ran instead of speaking with them, he referenced an earlier arrest involving the same officer.

Sebulsky was charged in late December in a separate incident where police said he broke into the Harmon House nursing facility in Mt. Pleasant, urinated and defecated in the center and assaulted a staff member. A nurse told police that Sebulsky had thrown a rock through the window before leaving the building, where he was confronted by three men, before breaking into the nursing facility again.

Police later found Sebulsky at the Independence Health Frick Hospital emergency room, where he told them he was being chased by three men and wanted help, according to court documents. Harmon House is just over a block away from the Frick Avenue home where Sunday’s incident was reported.

Court records also indicate Sebulsky is charged by North Huntingdon police with receiving stolen property, public drunkenness and a related charge, stemming from an incident on Nov. 17, 2025; and by Connellsville police from the same date, on charges of theft from a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief.

Sebulsky posted $100,000 bail in the Harmon House case and was released from jail on Jan. 4, according to district court officials.

On Monday, Sebulsky was charged with fleeing police, burglary and two counts of making terroristic threats. Unable to post $250,000 bail, he is being held in the Westmoreland County Prison.

Formal arraignment on the Harmon House charges, as well as a preliminary hearing on the latest charges, are both set for Feb. 11 in District Judge Charles Moore’s East Huntingdon court.

A plea in the Connellsville case is scheduled for March 30 in the Fayette County Court of Common Pleas.
