Cast members and extras prepare to film a scene for the movie “Hershey” on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 in the Diamond in Ligonier.

Filming on “Hershey” has wrapped after over seven weeks of filming in 17 locations in Pennsylvania, including Ligonier, and consuming thousands of pieces of chocolate, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Behind-the-scenes set photographs were published by the news outlet.

Director Mark Waters has said the film will focus on the love story between Milton Hershey, founder of the Hershey Chocolate Co., and his wife, Kitty, and on the school they began in 1909.

The Milton Hershey School is dedicated to educating orphans and children of underprivileged families. Today, it has an enrollment of about 2,000 students. The Hersheys left their fortune to the school; in 2021, its endowment was valued at more than $17 billion.

Ligonier’s Diamond and West Main Street were transformed last month to take on a period look for filming there. Locals participated as extras during filming.

“As we wrap, I feel most grateful to the people of Pennsylvania, who have supported us and actively participated in making this shoot a success,” Waters said in The Hollywood Reporter article. “I feel immense pride in what we’ve been able to do here, particularly in the fully committed performances of Finn Wittrock and Alexandra Daddario, who have given their hearts and souls to portray two figures whose legacy still resonates today.”

Filming also took place in Pittsburgh and Fayette and Butler counties, according to the Pittsburgh Film Office.

The “Hershey” cast includes Wittrock (“All My Children,” “American Horror Story”) and Daddario (the “Percy Jackson” films, “The White Lotus”) portraying the Hersheys, along with Alan Ruck (“Succession”), Richard Kind (“Only Murders in the Building”), David Costabile (“Breaking Bad”) and Helene Yorke (“The Other Two”).

The film is slated for release in 2026.
