A North Huntingdon developer is preparing the Kerber farm along Guffey Road for about 60 single-family homes.
Knights Landing Inc., a RWS Development company, bought 52 acres of the 65.2-acre farm from Thomas and Ellen Kerber for $1 million in late September. The Kerbers will retain the portion of land for the dairy farm, the golf course and the tube slides.
Thomas Kerber could not be reached for comment.
The township planning commission and commissioners this spring granted Shuster a waiver from the subdivision and land development ordinance requiring that sidewalks in all major subdivisions involving the construction of new public streets. The slope of the property had grades between 8%-to-12% and the township’s ordinance does not require sidewalks when roads have grades greater than 12%.
A Shuster spokesperson referred comments about Thomas Farm Acres to the developer’s website, which states that it anticipates installing some of the infrastructure before winter. Road construction and other major earthmoving activities will not start until spring.
Shuster stated on its website that it anticipates having lots developed and completed for sale by June or July 2022. Spring weather will be the key factor since we will need dry dirt for compaction.
The lots will vary in size from one-quarter-acre to one acre and cost an average of $100,000.
