Nighttime closures are planned during the first week of September for eastbound on- and off-ramps on Interstate 70 at North Belle Vernon.

Detours will be in place when the ramps are closed between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday, Sept. 6, PennDOT said.

While traffic is barred from the ramps, crews from Golden Triangle Construction Co. will patch pavement, repair drainage and replace barriers.

Motorists who want to enter the eastbound lanes of I-70 from Route 201 or Pricedale Road must enter the westbound lanes of the interstate and then take Exit 41 (Belle Vernon/Monessen). They’ll turn left onto Route 906 and then re-enter I-70 heading east.

Drivers who want to reach Route 201 from eastbound I-70 will continue on the interstate, getting off at Exit 49 (Smithton). They then will turn left at the traffic signal and re-enter I-70 heading west before using Exit 43A (Fayette City).

Bridge maintenance to begin

Temporary single-lane restrictions will be in place beginning Tuesday, shifting among multiple locations in Westmoreland County, as crews from Green Acres Contracting do maintenance work on PennDOT bridges.

This includes cleaning bridge bearings and flushing debris from expansion joints. It’s part of a nearly $450,000 four-county project expected to continue through the end of the year.

Signage or flaggers will be used to control traffic at the following bridge sites:

• Route 30 — over Main Street in North Huntingdon; Toll Road 66, Southwest Pennsylvania Railroad and Pennsylvania Railroad, all in Hempfield; Loyalhanna Creek and Mill Creek, both in Ligonier Township.

• Route 136 — over Youghiogheny River in South Huntingdon; Sewickley Creek in Sewickley Township.

• Route 981 — over Youghiogheny River in South Huntingdon.

• Route 993 — over Brush Creek in North Huntingdon.

• Donohoe Road — over Norfolk Southern Railroad in Unity.

• Finley Road/Rehoboth Church Road — over Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad in Rostraver.

• Yukon Road/Creek Road — over Sewickley Creek in Sewickley Township.

• Middletown Road/Madison Road — over Toll Road 66 in Hempfield.

• Apples Mill Road — over Sewickley Creek in Sewickley Township.

• West Tech Drive — over Route 119 in East Huntingdon.

• Carbon Road — over Southwest Pennsylvania Railroad in Hempfield.

• Forbes Road — over Turtle Creek in Trafford.

• Pipes and box culverts will be installed on Saltsburg Road in Washington Township, Wilpen Road in Ligonier Township and Laughner Road in Fairfield.

• Parallel ditching will take place on Catalina Farm Road in East Huntington.

• Shoulder cutting will take place on Bovard/Luxor Road in Hempfield, Hannastown Road in Hempfield and Salem and Beaver Run, Boquet and Kemp/Bardine roads in Salem.

A pavement preservation surface treatment will be applied on the following roads:

• Fitz Henry Road in South Huntingdon.

• Turkeytown/Motordrome Road in South Huntingdon.

• Barron Run Road in South Huntingdon.
