Work to replace a pedestrian bridge over Interstate 70 in Rostraver started Monday, according to PennDOT.

Intermittent single-lane restrictions between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. will be in place in both directions of the highway through the end of July between Exit 43 for Route 201 and Exit 41 for Route 906.

Golden Triangle Construction Co. is set to remove the existing bridge and reconstruct the abutments in preparation for a new span. Accessible ramps will be added, according to PennDOT.

The bridge connects Ross and Carson streets in the Pricedale section of the township. Construction is expected to last three to six months, according to PennDOT. The lowest bid for the work came in at $3.58 million.

The new bridge will have higher vertical clearance for vehicles on the highway.
