Incumbent leading race for Jeannette City School Board
Jeannette City School Board incumbent Tim Mortimore led voting in both parties in the race for four seats on the board with all precincts reporting.
Mortimore received 496 votes from Democrats while newcomer Felesha Beecher had 414, according to unofficial returns. He again topped Beecher with 453 Republican votes compared to her 343.
They will move on to November’s general election. Both cross-filed for Tuesday’s primary.
Incumbents Timothy Carney, 35, and Mycal Jones, 41, missed the deadline to file their petitions and ran write-in campaigns to make it onto November’s ballot. The open seats are four-year terms.
There were 167 write in votes on the Democratic side and 131 from Republicans, according to unofficial returns. Director Marlene Busato is not running for reelection.
