Four people seriously injured in a head-on crash on Route 31 in Donegal Township Thursday were flown by emergency medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh, state police said.

The collision occurred about 4:45 p.m. near the entrance to the Caddie Shak recreational complex when an eastbound Honda Civic traveling down a hill crossed into the westbound lanes of the road, hitting a Subaru SUV, Cpl. Jonathan Lindsay said.

Shane R. Mowry, 36, of Jeannette was driving the Honda and his passenger was Kele D. Townsend, 32, of Jeannette, according to state police. Driving the Subaru was Rosemarie M. Lang, 79, of Pittsburgh with Maria A. Dinzeo, 34, of San Francisco, Calif. as her passenger. No information was available on their conditions.

Chestnut Ridge Firefighters had to cut off the driver’s side door on the Honda and remove the roof to free the occupants trapped in the vehicle, said Josh Umbaugh, assistant fire chief.
