A state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of a fire that gutted an Irwin house Wednesday night, a fire official said.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire at 535 Carroll Drive, Irwin Deputy Fire Chief Shawn Stitely said Thursday morning.

The property is owned by George Hanna, according to the Westmoreland County tax map.

The fire was reported at 9:47 p.m. and the house was “fully involved in flames and the fire was through the roof,” when they arrived at the scene, Stitely said. It took about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control and the firefighters did not leave the scene until about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Stitely said.

Irwin firefighters were assisted by units from North Huntingdon.
