Letters of interest are being accepted by Jeannette for an open seat on council.

The deadline is Jan. 23 at 4 p.m.

The open seat was created when one candidate won two seats on Jeannette city government during November’s election. Michelle Langdon was sworn in Monday as mayor, which created the vacancy on council.

Council will appoint a new member to serve for two years. Voters will then decide who will serve the remaining two years.

Applicants for the seat must have been a resident of Jeannette for at least a year. Langdon said letters of interest should outline a person’s relevant background, experience and education.

Candidates will appear before council on Jan. 27 to answer questions, she said.

Letters of interest should be hand-delivered to city manager Ethan Keedy at city hall, 110 S. Second St., or emailed to ekeedy@cityofjnt.com.
