Jeannette man sentenced to 15 months in federal prison for online drug purchase

A Jeannette man was sentenced Thursday to 15 months in a federal prison for ordering drugs online to distribute locally along with weapons violations, according to U.S. Attorney Scott Brady.

James Robert Czachowski, 22, was ordered to spend three years on supervision after being released from prison. He pleaded guilty in March to attempted possession with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.

Czachowski was arrested after federal agents in April 2018 intercepted a package addressed to him from the United Kingdom. The package contained 11,000 Xanax pills, according to federal authorities.

It was delivered to Czachowski’s father, who was stopped by agents as he left to deliver it to his son in Pittsburgh. Czachowski admitted he bought the drugs online for $4,200 and intended to sell each Xanax bar for $1.50, according to investigators.

Authorities seized from his home three handguns and ammunition. Czachowski is prohibited from possessing a firearm because of a previous felony conviction, according to investigators.
