A 42-year-old Jeannette man accused of threatening a woman with a gun after she gave him a ride last month boasted to city police after his arrest Sunday that he eluded capture for 46 days, according to police reports.

Jamar “Philly” McIntosh, 42, of Jeannette was found hiding in a South Fifth Street house after police received a phone tip about 5 p.m.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Officer Zachary Burger, McIntosh surrendered after police arrived and Sgt. Jim Phillips warned he was going to send in the city’s police dog, Arees, to look for him.

People inside the residence first claimed McIntosh was not there, Burger reported. However, they eventually agreed to let police search.

McIntosh had been wanted on charges of reckless endangerment, simple assault and terroristic threats in connection with a Nov. 11 incident.

Two women told Jeannette police they gave McIntosh a ride only to have him pull out a handgun and threaten to shoot the driver because she blocked him on social media. The woman driving the car told police she felt the gun’s barrel at the back of her head after McIntosh got into the back seat.

According to court documents, the woman said she was in a car with another woman and picked up McIntosh on South Sixth Street near the ambulance station. The women said McIntosh asked for a ride to Patton Avenue, several blocks away.

Another female passenger in the car corroborated that McIntosh pulled a handgun out of his waistband and pointed it at the driver’s head. The driver told police McIntosh said “she was stupid for blocking him and not to talk reckless about him,” court documents said.

After the threat, the driver said McIntosh put the handgun back in his waistband and pulled a ski mask over his face before he got out of the car and ran off.

After his arrest, McIntosh denied the threat using a firearm, Burger reported.

“While we were transporting him to the county prison, McIntosh said we were running all around the city looking for him. He said everywhere we looked for him, he was there but just got away because we were slow,” Burger reported.

Burger filed an additional charge of flight to avoid apprehension against McIntosh after his arrest.

He was arraigned Monday and remanded to the county jail on $55,000 bond.

He did not have an attorney listed in court documents.

According to court dockets, McIntosh has an extensive criminal record in the county dating to 2007. He has been convicted of assaults, resisting arrest and minor drug violations, according to court records.

On Sept. 9, he pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana and providing Jeannette police with a false identification and was sentenced to serve one month in jail.
