Jeannette City School District will be switching transportation providers for the 2026-27 school year.
School directors this month approved a contract with Myers Transportation, Inc. that will run through 2031.
Superintendent Matthew Jones said the move would save at least $43,000.
“That would be a significant savings for the district starting out next year,” he said.
The district’s current bus provider is First Student. Cost was among several factors that went into the decision to switch to Myers, Jones said.
“It’s never easy to move from one to the next, but in this case there were multiple factors that have led us to that decision,” he said.
Another factor in the switch was access to cloud-based camera system that will allow Myers officials to share video of goings on inside the buses with school principals, Jones said.
“That was a real perk as well,” he said.
