A Jeanette woman accused of having a golf ball-sized chunk of crack cocaine allegedly told state police she was selling drugs to raise money to buy football cleats for her son.

State police say they found the crack cocaine in a car driven by Nivek Aneece Jackson, 39, when they stopped her vehicle along Penn Avenue and 18th Street in Jeannette shortly after noon Sunday, according to a criminal complaint. Trooper Joshua Wiskeman said he saw a small plastic bag containing white residue on the floor of the passenger seat when he was talking with Jackson during a traffic stop. Jackson gave her consent to a search of the vehicle, police said.

Jackson is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jackson was arraigned Monday before Jeannette District Judge Joseph DeMarchis and released on $15,000 unsecured bond, pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 9.
