A 30-year-old Johnstown man died over the weekend in a one-vehicle crash along Route 22 in Murrysville, police said.

The victim, Eduardo Luis Palmar, was traveling at a high rate of speed in the westbound lanes around midnight Saturday near Rick’s Sports Bar when his 2018 Chevrolet sedan crashed into the metal traffic barrier in the middle of the highway, said Capt. Charles Tappe of the Murrysville Police Department. The vehicle stopped along the north shoulder of the highway, about a tenth of a mile west of the Harrison City Road intersection, police said.

Palmar died of blunt force injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:10 a.m. Sunday by a Westmoreland County deputy coroner.

Officer Brian Sadlowe, who investigated the crash, said a witness told police Palmar’s vehicle was speeding and weaving on the highway prior to the crash.

An investigation continues as police await toxicology tests, Tappe said.
