The Lamp Theatre

What does a non-profit do when it has to postpone its primary fundraiser because of government-ordered restrictions against large gathering during a covid-19 pandemic?

In the case of The Lamp Theatre in Irwin, it sells popcorn, just like it does during concerts, shows and other events that would be held at the facility during a normal spring.

The Lamp will be selling the popcorn —- “salty tops” buttered or cinnamon flavored — for a $5 donation from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday from its building at 222 Main St. , according to the Lamp Theatre website.

Supporters can pick-up their popcorn at the curb or walk up to the theatre. Lamp supporters even will deliver the popcorn to businesses in downtown Irwin.

Pre-orders can be made by calling the theatre at 724-367-4000, or going to the theatre’s website at www.lamptheater.org.

The gala that had been scheduled for March 20, has yet to be rescheduled.
