Motorists in eastern parts of Westmoreland County will encounter overnight lane restrictions on a series of seven state bridges as crews work to preserve the spans.

The single-lane restrictions started Wednesday and will be in place between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. for up to two days for each bridge.

Crews from RAM Construction Services of Michigan will perform such tasks as completing minor deck repairs, replacing compression seals and applying an epoxy-based surface treatment as they work their way through the set of bridges at sites in Donegal, Derry, Ligonier and Unity townships.

Depending on weather conditions, work is expected to continue through Sept. 14 among the following bridge locations:

• Main Street – between Routes 31 and 711 in Donegal Township.

• Route 30 – between West Main Street and Walnut Street in Ligonier Township.

• Route 30 – between Route 381 and California Avenue in Ligonier Township.

• Route 22 – between Ravine Park Road/Stoney Run Road and Jonnet Lane in Derry Township.

• Route 981 – between Industrial Boulevard and Freddie Road/Menasha Lane in Derry Township.

• Route 982 – between Mission Road and Route 982/30 interchange in Unity.

• Route 119 – between Cemetery Road and Dayok Farm Lane in Unity.

The work is part of a $1.4 million project that will include similar improvements on 21 additional bridges in Westmoreland.

Single-lane restrictions also will be in place between 6 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Monday for motorists traveling in both directions on a section of Interstate 70 in Rostraver and North Belle Vernon.

Golden Triangle Construction Company will be patching concrete pavement, repairing drainage and replacing barriers between Exit 41 (Belle Vernon/Monessen) and Exit 43 (Donora/Fayette City).
