Churches in Latrobe and Irwin will be performing reenactments of The Last Supper during Holy Week.

A living tableau depicting the final supper and evening of Jesus Christ’s life on earth will be performed by 12 men of the Latrobe Presbyterian Church at 7:30 p.m. March 28 in the church sanctuary at 428 Main St.

The living tableau actors will recreate the image of Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting, The Last Supper.

Narrator Dana Flowers will welcome the congregation to the upper room to celebrate the Passover meal. Each disciple then will relate his life experience with Jesus of Nazareth.

“It’s an honor,” said Pastor Derek Campbell, who will portray Jesus.

The production will be directed by Cindy Soltys. Following the drama, Holy Communion will be served by Campbell and the 12 disciples.

The First United Methodist Church at Oak and Third streets in Irwin will perform its reenactment of the Last Supper at 7 p.m. March 26 and 28.

It incorporates the da Vinci painting as a model for the set and also is meant to represent a true picture of the Last Supper.

The speaking parts are meant to allow the audience to hear the inner thoughts of each man, according to a church statement.
