A Latrobe man died in motorcycle crash Saturday in Unity, according to state police.

Troopers said Mark Gerard Gruss, 60, was driving a 1998 Harley Davidson Ultra at 4:40 p.m. on Saint Vincent Drive near Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve when he apparently lost control.

The motorcycle crossed into the opposite lane, hit an embankment and fell into a drainage culvert.

Police said Gruss was not wearing a helmet or protective gear. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He died from blunt force injuries to the head and chest, according to the coroner’s office.

A funeral home had not been selected as of Sunday morning.
