Latrobe sex offender who served time for 2009 sex assault accused in new rape
A Latrobe man who previously was jailed for sexual assault is accused of raping a woman last year after she requested his help to move a piece of furniture, police say.
Jonathan Michael Pollard, 31, was arrested this week on charges of rape, sexual assault, stalking and related offenses. He is free on $10,000 unsecured bond. He is a registered sex offender.
Investigators said they were notified by the accuser on Nov. 14, two days after the alleged attack. The woman told police Pollard held her down and raped her while she said “no” numerous times, according to court papers.
She had turned down his sexual advances in the past and he would often ask where she was by text message if his phone calls went unanswered, police said.
Pollard told police the sex was consensual, according to court papers.
He did not have an attorney listed in online court records and could not be reached. A preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 24.
Pollard was arrested twice in the past, first when his Greensburg family was accused of beating and holding a 19-year-old woman against her will for six months in 2006 and 2007 and, two years later, when he raped a 17-year-old runaway in Jeannette.
Pollard, then 17, was charged as an adult in 2007 after police said his family beat the woman and called her their slave. His case was moved to juvenile court, where he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge and was sentenced to a period of detention, according to Tribune-Review archives.
He and family members were arrested again two years later after police said they forced a 17-year-old runaway into sex acts in exchange for food and cigarettes. He served a state prison sentence of three to six years in that case, according to court records.
Pollard got into trouble again shortly after his parole in 2015. A Beaver County woman he met through an online dating site obtained a protection from abuse order against him after a week of dating. She accused him of violating the order by attacking and harassing her, according to Tribune-Review archives.
