Latrobe Area Historical Society is seeking photos and stories of local veterans of any U.S. conflict since World War II as it prepares a slide show honoring area residents who served in all eras.

Titled “Latrobe: Honoring Our Veterans,” the program is slated for a Nov. 9 screening at the historical society headquarters at 416 Weldon St., Latrobe, just in time for Veterans Day.

“We’ve been going through our records, and we have tons of information for the Civil War and World War I and World War II, but it’s very thin on the more recent wars,” said society President Mary Lou Townsend. “We definitely want to tell their stories, too.

“Latrobe area residents have served in every (American) war. We have information going back to the French and Indian War.”

The society has files of newspaper clippings about the Korean, Vietnam and Gulf wars and the War on Terror, but actual photos of veterans are needed for use in the slide show, Townsend said.

Those who have information or items to share concerning local veterans are asked to contact Townsend at latrobeareahist@gmail.com or 724-539-8889.
