Lease deal fills Jeannette Industrial Park

The Jeannette Industrial Park is sold out.

The Westmoreland County Industrial Development Corp. this week approved a 5-year deal to lease a more than 50,000 square-foot space in the park to Scott Electric.

“Obviously, we’re very excited to bring Jeannette Industrial Park to full occupancy,” said Westmoreland County Commissioner Sean Kertes. “Our goal, as both county commissioners as directors of the WCIDC, is to create an environment where a sustainable local economy can thrive, so it’s especially satisfying that we’re able to provide room to grow for an established company like Scott Electric and retain those jobs in Westmoreland County.”

The company, a Greensburg-based wholesale electrical distributor, has been in business since 1946 and employs 680 people at multiple locations. County development officials said the company initially relocated 26 employees to renovated space in the Jeannette park. An additional five to 10 new jobs could be added there in the future.

Scott Electric will occupy the second largest suite at Jeannette Industrial Park. The county renovated the space in 2020 to install energy efficient upgrades as part of a project paid for from a state funded Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant.

The lease comes six months after FC Meyer Packaging LLC moved into the facility’s largest suite.

About 125 employees will work at 10 businesses at Jeannette Industrial Park. Annual tax revenue generated from the industrial park is expected to exceed $300,000, officials said.

Brian Estadt, the marketing coordinator for the Westmoreland County Industrial Development Corp. said 99% of the agency’s more 565,000 square-feet of available space in its industrial park system is under contract.

The county operates 19 industrial parks.
