A lifelong Hempfield resident wants to serve as a township supervisor.
In announcing her candidacy, Becky Durbin said she intends to focus on implementing a community alert system, supporting the township’s fire departments and the public works department.
It’s important, she said, to maintain green space and make good decisions regarding future growth while preserving a vibrant commercial corridor on Route 30.
She is a registered Republican.
“My years of experience working at the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County have instilled in me the importance of public infrastructure, which includes safe bridges, storm water controls, and access to clean water,” she said.
Durbin said in an announcement that she has been involved in several community organizations and is a board member of Westmoreland Community Action and a member of the township’s planning commission.
