Ligonier Country Market plans crafters' return, new night event

Vendors and shoppers at the weekly Ligonier Country Market are practicing social distancing and other safety measures due to the covid-19 pandemic.

Craft vendors will set up shop again at the weekly Ligonier Country Market beginning June 6.

“(Their return) signals the next step in us returning the market to full operation in light of the pandemic,” said LCM executive director Cari Frei. “Offering everything from handmade jewelry and wood crafts to original oil paintings and artisan soaps, our crafters play an integral role in the market and help to create the unique destination shopping experience that the Ligonier Country Market offers.”

The LCM’s weekly Market Sprouts Kids’ Club, musical entertainment and other special features are on hold until further notice.

Market hours are 8 a.m.-noon Saturdays through Oct. 3, rain or shine, at the Loyalhanna Watershed Association Farm, off West Main Street and Route 30 in Ligonier Township.

Shoppers must continue to practice social distancing and follow coronavirus prevention and safety guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Portable toilets will be not be available until further notice.

New night market

Providing another shopping experience, the LCM and Ligonier Valley Chamber of Commerce will launch a new monthly Ligonier Night Market on June 18 in Ligonier Diamond Park.

From 5 to 9 p.m., shoppers will be able to visit their favorite LCM farmers and food processors will set up around the Diamond and along Main Street. Downtown businesses also will be open.

“Along with offering fresh produce and locally made food products, the Ligonier Night Market will enable people to spend the evening in downtown Ligonier to visit our many merchants and enjoy a truly unique small-town shopping experience,” Frei said.

The night market will continue on the third Thursday of the month, with other dates including July 16, Aug. 20, Sept. 17 and Oct. 15.

Night Market shoppers also will be required to observe current coronavirus prevention and safety guidelines.
