Ligonier Valley police are looking for an Allegheny County man charged with attempted homicide for allegedly shooting at a woman in Ligonier Township on Monday.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Michael J. Harris, 29, of Munhall, who police said directed the shots at the woman as she was allegedly stealing a safe that belonged to him. Harris is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and weapons violations.

Police said the woman was not hurt and she fled in a vehicle. She is from Rossiter.

Investigators were called to the home on Darlington Road at 8:30 p.m. after a neighbor reported the shots and seeing a man holding a handgun. The suspect frequents that home, police said.

When Harris realized the safe was missing, he ran outside after the woman, firing several shots at her, police said. Investigators did not say what was inside the safe.

Harris allegedly fired several more shots at the home and then left. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911 or police at 724-238-5105.
