Two Adelphoi Village workers and a resident were hurt last month when a man living at a secure facility there attacked them, according to state police.

Kevin Otero, 19, was arraigned Wednesday on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment.

Troopers said the assaults were reported at the Unity facility on Jan. 10. One of the workers was hit in the face when he stepped in front of Otero to prevent him from returning to his room without permission, police said. The staff member had a facial bruise.

The second worker was hurt when he tried to stop Otero from attacking another resident, according to court papers. That worker reported he was punched in the head and body and had a bruised right arm and brush burn on his left arm, police said.

The other resident told police Otero was arguing with staff members when Otero started punching him, according to court papers. The resident had cuts and bruising on his face, police said.

Otero is free on his own recognizance. A March 2 preliminary hearing is set. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records.
