Man accused of firing 9 shots inside Jeannette apartment
A Jeannette man is being held in the Westmoreland County Prison after, police say, he fired nine shots inside his apartment, according to court papers.
Jason Matthew Thomas, 31, is charged with discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, reckless endangerment and drug and drug paraphernalia possession.
City police were called at 4 a.m. Tuesday after Thomas claimed to have been shot during a robbery, but investigators found he only had abrasions and a bloody finger, according to court papers.
Police said they found multiple bullet holes in the walls of his Harrison Avenue apartment. They confiscated a handgun and shell casings and suspected marijuana and methamphetamine, as well as items associated with drug use, according to court papers. A man who lives in an adjacent apartment told police he heard one voice and a lot of shouting and banging.
Thomas’ bond was set at $10,000. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records. A July 9 preliminary hearing is scheduled.
