A 54-year-old man is accused by police with secretly placing a tracking device on an ex-girlfriend’s SUV in Westmoreland County.
Bradley K. Nicholson of White in Fayette County was released from the county prison on $25,000 bond after his arrest on charges of harassment and stalking filed by state police in Greensburg.
Trooper Corey Folino said Nicholson’s ex-girlfriend, who lives in Mt. Pleasant Township, told investigators she grew suspicious last month when she saw Nicholson following her on several occasions while she was driving to locations in Fayette and Westmoreland counties.
Folino reported in court documents the woman has an active protection from abuse order against Nicholson.
“The victim said she was worried he was following her,” Folino said.
In late November, the woman took her vehicle to a relative’s garage and he located a battery-powered tracking device attached with a magnet under the passenger side floor of her SUV.
The woman reported that she had the car serviced in mid-November and left it at an area body shop.
Folino said he interviewed Nicholson, who admitted placing the tracking device on the vehicle “before she obtained the PFA.”
Folino said Nicholson told investigators he had deleted evidence of the online purchase of the tracking device “because he knew it was wrong.”
He has a preliminary hearing Jan. 26 before District Judge Charles Moore.
He declined comment Thursday.
Court dockets indicate he has no prior criminal record in the area.
