A man previously from Irwin was ordered to pay a fine on a summary neglect of animals count after a nonjury trial Tuesday.
Antoine M. Prigg, 24, of Oxford, Chester County, was acquitted of the majority of animal cruelty and related charges against him in connection with what police described as a malnourished puppy and kitten that were taken from his apartment in February 2018.
Judge Meagan Bilik-DeFazio made the ruling after listening to testimony. A veterinarian who examined the dog taken from Prigg’s apartment testified that the animal appeared to be mildly malnourished and had worms.
Police said at the time of Prigg’s arrest that the animals did not have food. Charges were filed after an employee of the apartment complex where Prigg lived notified police.
