A man state police said rammed a vehicle during a road rage incident last year in Salem was ordered to serve up to five years in prison.
Cody Salensky, 27, formerly of Latrobe, pleaded guilty this week to aggravated assault by vehicle, aggravated assault and making terroristic threats in connection with an early morning crash on Route 66 near Delmont on July 3.
Troopers said Salensky got into an argument with an occupant of another vehicle at the GetGo gas station on Route 22 and followed the car in his pickup truck onto Route 66 north. The pursued car changed lanes multiple times before it was rear-ended by Salensky. Both vehicles became entangled before Salensky fled the scene and later sent a text message to one of his victims that contained a threat to shoot him, according to court records.
The three passengers in the struck vehicle sustained minor injuries, and one person was treated at a local hospital. Salensky has been in jail since he was arrested by state police hours after the crash.
Prosecutors dismissed one felony count of aggravated assault and flight to avoid apprehension, along with misdemeanor charges of simple assault, reckless endangerment, accidents involving death and injury and harassment, as well as five summary traffic violations.
Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court Judge Christopher Feliciani sentenced Salensky to serve 2 1/2 to five years in prison and an additional six years on probation.
