A 62-year-old Jeannette man was stabbed to death Monday night in a fight with a Penn Hills man, police said.

Police were responding to a call about an altercation about 9:45 p.m. on South Sixth Street in Jeannette when they found William Osselburn bleeding from wounds to his neck, left arm and torso, police Chief Donald Johnston Jr. said.

Osselburn was taken to AHN Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, where he died, police said.

Antwone D. Thurston II, 23, is charged with criminal homicide.

The fight happened after Thurston jumped into an argument about rent money between friends who were drinking on a porch. Witnesses told police Osselburn pushed Thurston over a railing and into bushes in front of the house. Thurston got up and struck Osselburn several times, causing significant injuries, according to court papers.

Police found a Smith & Wesson folding knife that witnesses said Thurston threw before fleeing.

A neighbor who declined to be identified Thursday morning said she heard the commotion and ran upstairs to the back room of her row house in the same block for safety. She said blood was all over the sidewalk when she looked out later.

Thurston turned himself in Tuesday afternoon and was arraigned before District Judge Joseph DeMarchis. Thurston was accompanied by his mother, father and attorney. He did not speak in court. He is being held without bail at Westmoreland County Prison.

“We do not have much to say at this time,” said Nicole Nino, the attorney representing Thurston. “We feel really bad for our client. He was viciously attacked last night.”

Jeannette police are being assisted by Westmoreland County detectives.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Oct. 6.
