A Latrobe man was taken into surgery after being stabbed in the chest late Thursday, and a woman accused of attacking him was charged with attempted homicide, according to court papers.

City police accuse Heather Little, 36, of using a folding knife to stab the man during a domestic dispute. She was jailed on $25,000 bail.

Officers were called to Jefferson Street about 10 p.m. Thursday and found a man covered in blood. Police Chief Richard Bosco said the man was seriously hurt and airlifted by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian hospital.

A witness told investigators Little stabbed him. A neighbor reported yelling coming from the house and hearing the man repeatedly say “Go ahead and stab me” before saying “You stabbed me,” according to court papers.

Police said they found Little inside the home with blood on her hands and face. The knife was recovered from the living room.

The witness told police that when she and Little arrived at the home, Little went inside and locked her out. Then the man came outside with the wound, according to court papers.

Little denied touching the knife and told investigators the man stabbed himself during an argument over a birthday gift for the witness.

Little was arraigned Friday morning on charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault and simple assault. She was being held at the Westmoreland County Prison. A preliminary hearing is set for March 18. Little did not have an attorney listed in online court records.

Anyone with information related to the case is asked to call Latrobe police at 724-537-5526.
