A Somerset County man is behind bars after Jeannette police accused him of breaking into a city home Saturday night and attacking a woman, according to court papers.

Larry E. Ramsey, 47, of Somerset Township, is charged with burglary, terroristic threats, reckless endangerment, driving under the influence and related offenses.

Police were called to Magee Avenue after 9 p.m. for a reported domestic situation. They found a woman inside a home bleeding from a wound on her foot and furniture and other items in disarray.

The woman told police Ramsey, who she knows, broke into the home and attacked her before leaving. He came back again minutes later and hit her with a dining room chair and a lamp, according to court papers. Two other adults and two children were there at the time.

As the woman escaped from Ramsey, police said she stepped on a piece of broken glass. She was treated by Jeannette EMS. A witness said Ramsey threatened to come back daily and hurt the woman, according to court papers.

Ramsey denied being inside the house, police said. His license was suspended for past drunken-driving convictions and police said he appeared to be intoxicated during the incident.

Ramsey was being held on $25,000 bail at the Westmoreland County Prison. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records. A Dec. 31 preliminary hearing is set.

His criminal history in Pennsylvania dates back to 1992, according to online court records. Ramsey is on state parole on a two- to four-year sentence that stemmed from his arrests in connection with a 2017 police chase from Jeannette to East Huntingdon and a raid at his home that turned up weapons and GPS trackers police connected to a 2017 shooting. State prison records indicate he was released in December 2019.
