A 26-year-old Derry Township man was ordered to stand trial Friday for the alleged rape of a Ligonier Township woman last September.

Ligonier District Judge Denise Thiel ruled there was sufficient evidence presented during a preliminary hearing for Khachek Alexan Hamerski to stand trial on charges of rape, sexual assault, strangulation and related offenses.

Ligonier Police allege Hamerski went to the woman’s home at 4:30 a.m. on Sept. 7 after they had been out with a group of friends at an area establishment.

The woman reported that she told Hamerski she didn’t want to have sex with him, according to a court documents. She told police she repeatedly tried to get away and said “no.”

At one point, the accuser said Hamerski grabbed her throat, according to police.

The alleged assault ended when Hamerski learned what time it was and had to leave for work, police said. The woman was treated at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital.

Hamerski has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

He remains free on $25,000 bail that was posted after his Feb. 6 arrest.
