Maple Avenue in Greensburg will intermittently close over next few weeks

One block of North Maple Avenue in Greensburg will be closed intermittently between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. for the next few weeks.

The Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County will be upgrading a water line between West Pittsburgh Street and West Otterman Street, then the City of Greensburg will repave the road, according to Greensburg City Councilman Gregory Mertz.

Work begins Tuesday and is expected to last around three weeks.

The city was already planning to repave Maple Avenue this year, which prompted the municipal authority to reach out to suggest coordinating the paving work with its own planned pipe upgrade project, Mertz said.
