A boil water advisory issued over the weekend to about 4,500 Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County customers in Hempfield and Unity was lifted Monday afternoon.

The authority said no contamination was found during tests of water lines affected by a leak that drained a water storage tank serving the area, which stretches east toward Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Unity and runs along and near Route 130 to the West Point neighborhood in Hempfield.

The leak was discovered Saturday morning and required the authority to reroute service as repairs were made and service lines were drained.

A state mandate required the authority to issue a precautionary advisory for customers in the area to boil water before use until two negative tests for contaminates were returned over a 48-hour period.
