Delmont, Export, Murrysville
• The White Valley AMVETS will join the Export, Delmont and Murrysville American Legions in hosting a series of events to mark Memorial Day. The schedule is:
8 a.m., honor roll at the Export American Legion on Kennedy Avenue
8:30 a.m., program at the Murrysville Cemetery on North Hills Road
9 a.m., program at Hill’s Church Cemetery on Hills Church Road, Murrysville
9:30 a.m., program at White Valley Cemetery on Roosevelt Avenue in Export
10 a.m., program at Twin Valley Memorial Park on Athena Drive in Delmont
10:45 a.m., parade through Export, beginning at St. Mary’s church and heading down Kennedy Avenue to the Export firemen’s social hall.
11:30 a.m., program at Grandview Cemetery on Cemetery Road in Murrysville
12:15 p.m., honor roll at White Valley AMVETS Post 85, 2100 Carolina St. in Murrysville

Export
• St. John Baptist de LaSalle Church, 5900 Kennedy Ave., will host its fifth annual Memorial Day car show from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the church. Vehicle registration is $10, and spectator admission is free.
A salute to veterans will be at 1 p.m.
Proceeds will be donated to the Pa. Hero Fund, Westmoreland County Veterans Food Bank, Heinz VA Medical Center and Clelian Heights. There will be a DJ, food, door prizes, a basket auction and 50-50.

Hempfield
• Greensburg Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 33 will conduct a program at 11 a.m. at Westmoreland County Memorial Park. A roll call will honor veterans recently interred at the site along West Newton Road.
• Historic Hanna’s Town will be open to the public from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. at 809 Forbes Trail Road. Guided tours are available of the re-created 18th century village that hosted the first English courts west of the Allegheny Mountains and was a recruitment center during the Revolutionary War.
Guests can view the exhibit “Penn’s Woods: Plenty for the Use of Man.” It explores the role of Pennsylvania’s forests in the regional history of woodworking and carpentry.

Irwin
• Retired Army Col. Kenneth Gongaware, a Norwin High School graduate, will be the keynote speaker at the Memorial Day observance at Union Cemetery, 431 Bridge St.
Before the observance, a parade will proceed from Main Street in downtown Irwin at 10 a.m. and follow Pennsylvania Avenue to the cemetery. Parade participants are to line up at Immaculate Conception Church, 308 Second St.

Jeannette
• Jeannette Combined Veterans Honor Guard will have a Memorial Day ceremony at 9 a.m. outside city hall.
The group will visit area cemeteries afterward. Short stops at most of the locations will include a prayer, cross or wreath placement and 21-gun salute. The ceremony will commence at 11 a.m. at Jeannette Memorial Park, 1100 Altman Road, Penn Township.
• Jeannette Community Band will have its spring/Memorial Day concert at 7 p.m. Sunday at Jeannette American Legion, 109 S. Fifth St. The event is free and open to the public. The musical selection will include patriotic tunes, Broadway and movie medleys and other songs.

Manor, North Huntingdon
The Norwin Historical Society Honor Guard and the Manor American Legion Post 472 Military Honor Guard will hold Memorial Day ceremonies Sunday at three area sites.
The honor guard will conduct ceremonies at 1 p.m. at Penn Lincoln Memorial Cemetery on Route 30. Another ceremony is planned for 1:50 p.m. at the Westmoreland City Veterans Memorial, Route 993, followed by a third ceremony at the Manor American Legion Post 472, 58 Race St., Manor.

Scottdale
Parade begins at Rite Aid parking area at 10:30 a.m. with presentations at Scottdale and St. Joseph cemeteries.

Somerset County
A memorial ceremony will be held at Patriot Park, 6150 Lincoln Highway, Shade Township, near the Flight 93 National Memorial, at 7 p.m. Sunday.
The ceremony will include songs, speakers and a recognition of soldiers who were killed in 2021.
Ground was broken last year at Patriot Park, a memorial in honor of those who fought and died in the global war on terror. Fundraising is ongoing, but parts of the site are complete.

Trafford
Trafford American Legion Post 331 will host a parade from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. beginning at the American Legion, 216 Cavitt Ave., and ending at Trafford Veterans Memorial Park, Trafford Edgewood Avenue and Fifth Street.
Marching bands, antique cars, floats and fire trucks will participate. Additionally, the American Legion will perform a service at the end of the parade and a flyover about noon. A luncheon will take place at the American Legion building afterward.

Unity
Youngstown-Whitney Volunteer Fire Department is hosting Memorial Day services at 9 a.m. at the Baggaley Honor Roll and at 10 a.m. at Brody Park in Youngstown.
The invocation, homily and Benediction will be conducted by the Rev. James Podlesny of Sacred Heart Church in Youngstown. The national anthem and taps will be played by Rob Porembka. Wreaths will be laid by fire department members.

West Newton
West Newton Community Revitalization Committee will sponsor a free patriotic concert from 4:15 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Vine Street Park.
Performers include DDP at 4 p.m. and Stampede at 6 p.m.
Food trucks will be available.
