A vehicle fire Friday caused minor damage to the Mt. Pleasant Post Office.

An employee’s pickup truck parked near the rear of the Mt. Pleasant Township building caught fire around 11 a.m., according to Hecla Fire Lt. David Yuhouse. The flames reached to a roof extension on the building, but firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before it did any further damage.

“The whole front end (of the truck) was totally engulfed when we got here,” said Mt. Pleasant Borough Fire Chief Jerry Lucia.

The post office is just outside the borough line. No one was hurt. The fire did not affect operations, Lucia said.
