A 23-year-old Monessen man was arrested this week on charges of raping a girl after she was treated and interviewed at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh following the alleged assault.

Quentin T. Simpson was arraigned before night court District Judge Michael Mahady on charges of rape, aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors, statutory sexual assault and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of a child less than 13.

The assault occurred Sunday at a Monessen residence and was initially reported to police by the accuser’s relatives, Officer Aaron Thompson reported. Westmoreland County detectives assisted with the investigation.

Simpson was ordered held in the county jail on $50,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled March 6.
